Sermon Notes
Genesis 24 – A Bride for the King (Part 2) shows God’s pursuing love for you, evident in the romantic story of Isaac and Rebekah. As Abraham’s servant continues his mission to bring a bride back for Isaac, God reveals the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. If you’ve ever wondered what it means to be Spirit-led and how to discern between counterfeit holy spirits and the real deal, listen to Sunday’s message by Pastor David Menard. Genesis 24 – A Bride for a King (Part 2), will lead you to a practical understanding of the Holy Spirit’s design to lead you to Jesus.
“As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.”
“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, (just) as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
The typology is astounding JESUS’ GOSPEL PROPHESIED IN A STORY!
The solitary goal of the Holy Spirit is to LEAD US TO JESUS
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me (Jesus), for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
“I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”
We must not let anything HINDER US FROM COMING TO JESUS
The Holy Spirit will not force you A CHOICE MUST BE MADE TO FOLLOW JESUS
“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
