Questions Jesus Asked, Part 4 – In Matthew 14 we watch Peter walk on water only to take his eyes off Jesus and begin to sink. Jesus asks him, “Why did you doubt?” It would be easy to blame the roaring wind or the crashing waves, but the troubles surrounding Peter are not the problem. Peter’s issue is his little faith causing him to doubt Jesus. We all struggle with doubt, but we also make excuses which hinder our faith. In Luke 22 Jesus’ disciples fall asleep when they are told to pray, and Jesus asks them “Why do you sleep?” Like the disciples, we all fall into spiritual laziness and Jesus commands us to watch and pray! And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
