The Mission Church launched from a small home group Bible study in 2011. The lives of people in this small group had been radically impacted by Jesus and His gospel. This group continued bringing more people to the home Bible study, and it soon became evident that Jesus was building His church.
The Lord used David’s 17 years of experience of vocational pastoral ministry to lead this team to plant a new church. In September 2011, The Mission Church moved into an elementary school in Cardiff, CA, and held its first Sunday service.
The Lord continues to build and bless this ministry with sweet fellowship, healthy growth, and an ever-growing team of gifted leaders devoted to serving Jesus and loving people. In May 2018, The Mission Church moved into its beautiful facility in downtown Carlsbad. Today, The Mission Church is a well-established, healthy, thriving church full of young families. The church continues to grow and bear good fruit as Jesus transforms lives by His grace and for His glory.
Pastor David loves seeing people’s lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word. David’s passion for equipping people to be disciples of Jesus is clearly heard in his solid Bible teaching. His encouraging messages challenge everyone to live their life “on a mission,” serving Jesus daily in their own “mission fields” at home, school, work, and in their community. David believes Jesus has called us all to a life of great purpose in His Kingdom and that embracing this divine calling is the most rewarding way to live.
David and his beautiful wife, Lisa, have been married for 36 years. Together they have four adult children: Jordan, Ryan, Nathan, Mariah, and three grandchildren. The Menard’s love family time together! They gather every Sunday for family dinner.
The entire Menard family is actively involved in leadership at The Mission Church: Lisa teaches in Women’s Ministry, disciples the Women’s Ministry leaders, and serves on the Children’s ministry leadership team. Jordan serves behind the scenes as a volunteer in media and online development. Ryan volunteers as a Leader in Men’s Ministry. He is also a Mission Group Leader, and a musician on the worship team. Nathan serves as a volunteer musician on the worship team. Mariah actively serves Jesus as a volunteer leader in Women’s Ministry, Media ministry, and as a teacher in our outstanding Children’s Ministry program.
