Sermon Notes

Genesis 46:30-47:28 – God Builds a Man (Part 11). Joseph, a Prefigure of King Jesus, sets his family apart in the land of Goshen.  In tremendous wisdom, Joseph establishes a place in Egypt where Jacob and his family can grow in their walk with the Lord and not be caught up in the trappings of the land.  How do you keep yourself and your family from falling prey to the myriad of temptations the world has to offer?  Listen to Pastor David’s sermon from Genesis 46:30-47:28 – God Builds a Man (Part 11), and learn how to pursue a sanctified life rooted in God’s will!

Our personal SANCTIFICATION TO GOD is vital to our spiritual health

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice; holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed, by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove (experience) what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification.”

Genesis 46-47 - God Builds a Man (Part 11)

“If you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.”

Insights from a 130-year-old believer:

1) LIFE IS INCREDIBLY SHORT.

2) THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME.

3) WE ARE NOT AMAZING. BUT GOD IS.

“Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes forth like a flower and fades away; he flees like a shadow and does not continue….His days are determined, the number of his months is with You; You have appointed his limits, so that he cannot pass.”

“LORD, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know (understand) how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my age is as nothing before You. Certainly, every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah.”

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit’; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.’ But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Look at all the magnificent things GOD HAS DONE FOR JACOB!

Two possible responses to God’s abundant grace in our life:

1) AN UNGRATEFUL HEART

2) A HEART MOVED WITH GRATITUDE FOR JESUS
