Genesis 48, Jacob’s Last Words.
Words are powerful. Carefully chosen and well thought out, the last words a person speaks from their deathbed are incredibly significant. Last words reveal what is preeminent, what matters most. Joseph brings his sons Ephraim and Manasseh to his father Jacob to hear his last words. As a result, profound wisdom and supernatural blessings are spoken upon their lives. Jacob adopts and grafts Ephraim and Manasseh into the 12 tribes of Israel. Thus, giving Joseph a double portion of the inheritance! There is also a divine correlation between Jacob adopting Joseph’s “Egyptian” sons and our adoption as Gentiles into the family of God. As a parent, a spouse or even as a friend may we learn from Jacob that our words make a profound impact on the lives of others.
