Genesis 47:13-48:7 – God Builds a Man (Part 12).  Joseph, a Prefigure of King Jesus, receives Israel’s blessing revealing the supernatural power of a Father’s influence upon his children.  As Israel nears his death, he commands that he be buried in the Promised Land instead of receiving a royal Egyptian burial.  Do you know and cling to God’s Promises instead of the things of this world? Genesis 47-48 - God Builds a Man (Part 12)

Joseph – a prophetic prefigure of King Jesus

1) The father sends his beloved son to the Tribes of Israel on a mission of love.

2) He was rejected because of His testimony to his own brethren (Tribes of Israel)

3) He was beaten and left for dead

4) His tunic was taken by his captors

5) He was sold to gentiles for a few pieces of silver (the price of a slave)

6) He was falsely accused and arrested (Potiphar).

7) He preached to the spirits in prison. (Eph 4:8-10, 1Pet 3:18-19) (to one a message of Salvation, to one a message of judgment)

8) He is the Savior of the world.

9) He began his public ministry at 30 years of age.

10) He is an alleged criminal, instantly raised to power, then seated at the right hand.

11) He was given a name meaning: God Speaks and saves lives.

12) Every knee must bow to him. (Gen 41:43, Phil 2:10)

13) He is espoused to a Gentile Bride.

14) His children are: Manaseh & Ephraim. “God has made me forget (sin)” and “God has caused me to be fruitful”

15) He is Lord of the present harvest age.

16) He is Lord of the coming seven-year Tribulation.

17) Israel is blind, unable to recognize him, their own brother, who is the Savior King.

18) Israel did not recognize him at the first coming, but their eyes are opened to recognize Him at the second coming.

19) He freely forgives and restores those who hated him and sinned against him.

20) The evil his brothers (Israel) intended; God used for good to save mankind.

21) He gives his wretched, sinful brethren new garments of royalty/righteousness.

22) His Gentile sons are grafted in, receiving full status as God’s people

23) Everything on earth, Jews and Gentiles are brought under his authority and sovereign rule.
