In 1 John 3:1-23 – The Divine Standard of Love, the assurance of our salvation is rooted in God’s love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our culture produces many versions of love, but only one love is divinely defined by the sacrificial love of Jesus. Listen and learn about God’s love so that you can identify counterfeit versions seeking to pass as the real thing! God’s love produces true love revealed in our relationship with others in the church, which brings assurance that we are saved. The Apostle Paul said, “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”
Our Love for One Another is Evidence of our Relationship with Jesus
Love is Divinely Defined by the Sacrificial Life of Jesus
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice [iniquity] but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
