Matthew 26:31-35 – Prone To Self-Sufficiency
Matthew 26:31-35 - Prone to Self-Sufficiency is the story where Jesus foretells Peter's denial of knowing Him. Jesus show His sovereignty. Jesus meets His disciples where they are spiritually to take them where they need to be. Matthew 26:31-35 - Prone to Self-Sufficiency shows that Peter was tragically unaware of both the spiritual reality and the spiritual battle that Jesus clearly saw. Peter felt brave at the moment and had no perception beyond the moment. Soon, Jesus said this not to condemn His disciples, but to show them that He really was in command of the situation, and to demonstrate that the Scriptures regarding the suffering of the Messiah must be fulfilled.

Being prone to self-sufficiency caused Peter to question God's revealed word. God's Word Reveals God's Will.

Spiritual Growth Comes by Grace Not by Merit. Grace Flows through the Channel of Brokenness. Humbleness come from who we are not what we do. The disciple James says: "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." (James 4:6-10, NKJV)
